Honey or Bitter Herbs

Are you honey or are you bitter herbs

Meaning do you bring life to others

Or do you bring destruction and despair

Does kindness flow out of your heart

Or does pride regurgitate from your mouth

God has called us to be peace makers

And to encourage and build up the church

This life has enough bitterness on its own

My prayer is that we be sweet for the body

And strengthen each other in brotherly love

To be a light in the heavy darkness around us

God has called us to a life worthy of His calling

And wants us to love each other well

To walk alongside one another side by side

Be a hand to hold or a shoulder to lean on

We need each other and we need fellowship 

This life this journey is not an easy one

Sometimes that kind word keeps us going

We can keep pressing on despite opposition

Cuz we are united in Christ as one body

Together we are more powerful than if we were apart

God has given us each other to hold on to

We can carry one another through weakness

Laugh with one another through pain

And point to the Peacemaker in chaos

This life isn’t always easy but we have all that we need

God has given us all the right equipment

All you need to do is trust that He’s in control

We can only see the step in front of us

But He can see the ending of our stories

And He wants only good things for us
