Little Seed

Lord we both know I started out as a little seed

Unsure of the growth and potential I had

But You in Your love, grace and mercy

Placed me into healthy soil with sun and water

Gave me everything that I could ever need

Taught me the fruits of Your Holy Spirit

Love was poured into me and out of me

Peace flooded my roots and from my core

Joy was as abundant as that pieces of dirt

Patience brushed off me like a paint stroke

Kindness was wrapped around the seed

Goodness sprung out from the seed

Gentleness burst forth from deep within me

Faithfulness was my closest friend

Self control was a constant reminder

And You my Gardener were with me

I grew and I grew both tall and wide

Began to walk then run into the world

Branched out into different passions and loves

But it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows

There were storms and struggles pain and heartache

I found my branches going into things they shouldn’t

You in loving kindness pruned the dead ones away

I flourished in the things I was meant to

And didn’t in the lessons I were to learn

Or the paths that my heart wasn’t made for

Or that would keep me from my Gardener

And never once have I been without Him

The seed that was me has become something greater

Not cuz of what the seed did oh definitely not

But because of the grace and mercy of the Gardener

The One who saw more to the tiny little seed

And desired life to be breathed out of it
