Fire Spewing Tongue

Lord please forgive me for my fire spewing tongue

My mouth burns others when it starts to speak

So I can ruin someone with just one word

The damage is irreversible and eternal

It leaves a lasting scar that cant be erased

The memory is left behind after the healing

Lord please forgive me for my blabbering mouth

That beats down others to build up myself

Drives nails into the cores of people's hearts

With words that penetrate their chest walls

Flatten out people's hopes and dreams

Cutting out their feet from beneath them

Allow me to speak Your peace into other people’s chaos

To talk joy in the face of uncertainty 

To be a voice for those whose voice has been taken away

To point others to You with everything I say and do
