More Than Just An Amen

Amen is not the goodbye at the end of a call

But an invitation for You to speak to me

I humble myself before You and wait

Patiently I wait for Your response to my prayer

I know that I tend to overspeak

And I tend to not stop talking

While I’m supposed to be listening

Please quiet my rambling heart

You want more of me than just my own words

More than just an Amen to seal the prayer

But a receptive heart to seek after You

Teach me to be meek and open to Your will

And I tend to go on and on
